A small group from the UPMG took part in an interesting visit to the M-real paper mill at Kemsley in Kent. The visit was kindly arranged and hosted by James McNaughton Paper Group.

This particular paper mill produces mainly recycled business papers. Most of the recycled paper used in the production process being collected from within a 100-mile radius of the mill.

The visiting group were given a presentation that highlighted M-real's approach to recycling and to sustainability in all aspects of the production process. The group were then given a tour through the whole manufacturing process from incoming waste paper to outgoing cut and boxed A4 paper.

The visiting group were very impressed with the mill's environmental credentials.

Members of the UPMG view the incoming virgin pulp - ready to be mixed with the recycled pulp.
